Bacterial blight of sugar beet (Pseudomonas syringae pv. aptata) is a commonly occuring disease, but is usually not of economic importance. Some rhizomania-resistant varieties have shown increased susceptibility to P. s. pv. aptata. Symptoms can be easily confused with those of beet cercospora disease.[1] The host range includes Beet, chard, beans, aubergine, spinach, lettuce, and pepper.[2]
Symptoms[edit | edit source]
Leaves show circular to irregular leaf spots, which have a tan centre with a dark margin. Disease also shows on leaf edges. These spots later coalesce causing the leaves to have a ragged appearance.[2]
Control[edit | edit source]
No effective field controls have been developed.[1]
