The exact origin of the Gamba pepper is unknown, but it is an ethnic variety. One translation of "gamba" means sweet red pepper. This pepper is very well spoken-of as a cooking pepper. It can be used for stir-frys, baking, and stuffing. As it cooks it becomes even sweeter. The fruits are deep-red, flattened bells, approximately 7cm (3in) in diameter and 5cm (2in) deep. 'Gamba' is easy to grow, productive, and has a high resistance to disease.[1]
